Accounting Assistant

The Accounting Assistant is an entry level position that provides day-to-day support to several positions within DHM's accounting department operations. This is a 25-hour-a-week, 5-hours-per-day, Monday-Friday position with the potential to become full-time. The Accounting Assistant performs routine basic accounting operations, administrative duties, and other tasks as assigned.

Duties Include:


  • Assist the Accounts Payable department
    • Matching delivery tickets to invoices from vendors
    • Match and verify invoicing for accuracy
    • Verify invoices received for equipment repairs
    • Organize and filing of documents
  • Assist with other accounting functions as assigned
    • Compile monthly reports to assist with the monthly closing for our Shop
    • Run reports for the Controller to assist with monthly requirements for accounting
    • Do verification and reconciliation work
    • Complete routine accounting work
    • Assist with billing and invoicing functions
    • Complete clerical and data entry projects
    • Use accounting software to input data
    • Complete additional assignments in the accounting department as directed
  • Previous accounting/bookkeeping experience. Construction industry experience or background is a plus.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. An associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar field is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook) and above average computer skills.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting terminologies and practices.
  • Math and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in time management and data management.
  • Able to work individually with little supervision and in a team environment.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and remaining focused on the task at hand.
  • Job cost accounting knowledge is a plus.
  • Have a pleasant, can-do attitude.
